The Story Behind Memory Lane Lamps

The Story Behind Memory Lane Lamps

In 1998, Carol Couchon lost her father to cancer. While his loss was very difficult, Carol was ultimately inspired to co-found a store called Remembrances. This was the beginning of the concept of memory lamps. While the name has changed over time, the spirit with which Remembrances was founded lives on in Memory Lane Lamps. Carol stated, "After you go through the grief process, all the perishable gifts of flowers and foods are gone. You no longer have any lasting remembrance of your loved one. A lamp is forever. Every time you light this lamp you will be reminded of your loved one and be comforted by its warm glow."

Memory Lane Lamps firmly believes that the gift of light helps people deal with the sorrow of loss, reminding them of the wonderful years and precious memories they shared. That is why they stock their stores, located in East Longmeadow and Westfield, Massachusetts, with hundreds of styles of lamps. These beautiful, handcrafted lamps are perfect for all occasions including such milestones as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, retirements, baby showers, holidays and so much more. These special gifts are a one-of-a kind way to spread peace, comfort and celebration to everyone you love.

No matter what the occasion, customers will be able to select the perfect gift from a variety of different styles ranging in price from $39 to $400. The Couchons work directly with manufacturers to produce many custom designed tiffany style lamps. Steve Couchon, Carol's husband and business partner, is a manufacturing engineer who insists on the highest quality from his suppliers. "All of the stained glass lamps we sell are crafted by hand. Every piece of glass is cut by hand from large sheets of glass, shaped, polished and soldered together. Since no two pieces of glass are the same, no two lamps will be exactly the same."

Providing clients with the best service is paramount to the Couchons. When customers purchase a lamp from Memory Lane Lamps, they experience the meticulous care that goes with this process. Each lamp is hand wrapped, tied with a custom made bow and topped with a personalized card created just for that recipient. Each lamp can be shipped anywhere or hand delivered to a Western Massachusetts residence, business or funeral home.

Carol and Steve started Memory Lane Lamps with the hope that their customers would feel the same sense of love that they felt every time they turned on one the these beautiful lamps.
